Good news for romantics with a fever of nostalgia: Kal Ho Naa Ho graces theatres once again starting November 15. The announcement was made by Dharma Productions on Instagram through a digital poster which featured lyrics from the beloved, titular song. "Relive the timeless magic of Kal Ho Naa Ho," the post further read.
Elated by the news, Azaan Sami Khan took to Instagram to reshare the update on Stories. "Who's coming along?" he offered. "Dancing with me on each song in the cinema is required, or don't come!"
The romantic-comedy film was first released in 2003. The love-triangle tale starred Shah Rukh Khan as Aman Mathur, Preity Zinta as Naina Catherine Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan as Rohit Patel. The story follows Naina's tumultuous life, which fuels her everlasting frustration on a daily basis. Enter Aman, who makes her laugh and love again. However, due to a closely guarded secret, Aman is on a personal agenda to link up Naina with her best friend, Rohit.
The Nikkhil Advani film is decked with iconic moments that have turned golden with age. Referring to one such dialogue, the Instagram handle for Dharma Productions cheekily wrote in the caption, "Laal ab sabke dil ka haal hai, hone wala ab kamaal hai." (Red is now the state of everyone's heart, something fantastic is about to start.")
To celebrate the occasion, the film's producer Karan Johar reshared a follow-up post by Dharma Productions to Instagram Stories, linking the film's mirthful song Kuch To Hua Hai to his Story. "The heartwarming and heartbreaking tale of love returns!" the follow-up post read. "Share another smile with your loved ones," reminded the caption.
With the re-release just around the corner, fans on Instagram pleaded for more shows across different regions. Others were ready to shed their tears once again, with a few announcing that they just needed to find a date they could attend the show with. "Yay! Now I can finally have a mental breakdown all over again... in a public theatre!" a user joked.
"This is actually impossible to watch without crying the most you have ever cried in your life," another fan echoed. "There's just one heart, Shah Rukh. How many times will you break it?" yet another fan lamented. If you have been an avid fan of the film since it first came out, you might relate to how easily a mere reminder can move Kal Ho Naa Ho fans to endless tears.
But the flood of heartbreak aside, the comments section was also brimming with hearty enthusiasm. "One of my all-time favourite films! I watched it in theatres in 2003. Even now, I'm still excited," remarked a fan. "When I first watched Kal Ho Naa Ho, I always thought it would be amazing to see this film on the big screen. Now, that's actually becoming a reality, all thanks to Dharma Productions! It's more than a film; it's a deep, emotional experience. We're thrilled to watch Aman, Naina, and Rohit again," another fan enthused.
Users even rehashed their familiarity with the film by recalling its bittersweet dialogues, those fervent, philosophical reminders that make up the heart and soul of the narrative. Speaking of heart and soul, the handle also teased the re-release before the official announcement using a still of the heartthrob Aman. "We heard your 11:11 manifestations," the caption read.
