The cast of Emily in Paris was reportedly taken aback by Lucas Bravo’s candid criticism of the popular Netflix show.

Bravo, 36, sparked curiosity last month when he mentioned to the French publication Le Figaro that the series doesn’t “stimulate” him and shared he was considering leaving the show.

His remarks quickly went viral, catching the attention of his fellow cast members.

“Everyone is so upset about the remarks he made,” a source informed Us Weekly on Wednesday.

The insider noted that “there is going to be a lot of tension” on set if Bravo returns for Season 5.

However, they emphasized the “show will go on with or without Lucas.”

“The show is ‘Emily in Paris’ — not ‘Gabriel in Paris,’” they added.

Directed by Andrew Fleming, the series became a hit after its October 2020 premiere and was renewed for its fifth season in September.

Lily Collins stars as Emily, a 30-something who relocates to Paris for work and finds herself entangled in a complicated love triangle with Bravo’s character, Gabriel, a chef.

Following numerous ups and downs — including a false pregnancy scare — Season 4 concluded with Emily moving to Rome with a new romantic interest, leaving a heartbroken Gabriel in Paris.

While fans were thrilled for the upcoming season, Bravo expressed disappointment over his character’s development.

“I would like him to find a bit of panache again,” he told Le Figaro about his character’s arc.

Although he acknowledged the show as “good entertainment” and “an escape,” he described his character’s relationship dynamics as “a bit archaic.”

“I don’t want to be part of a cog that tends not to consider the intelligence of the spectators,” he explained, noting that he feels he lacks “freedom” on set.

Bravo reiterated his concerns a week later in an interview with IndieWire, saying his character had been “slowly turned into guacamole.”

“The ‘sexy chef’ was very much a part of me in Season 1, but we’ve grown apart season after season due to his decisions and the direction they’ve given him,” he shared. “I’ve never felt so disconnected from him.”
