Govt to enforce FBR plan via ordinance
The federal government has decided to bring an ordinance to implement the FBR transformation plan, according to sources.
A draft of the ordinance has been sent to the Prime Minister's Secretariat for approval. The primary aim of the proposed legislation is to enforce tax compliance through stronger measures. Under the new ordinance, additional powers will be granted to the provincial governments to support this initiative.
The proposed law also includes provisions for collaborating with provincial administrations to curb the sale of illegal or counterfeit cigarettes, which has been a growing issue.
