Sydney Sweeney Criticizes Hollywood’s "Fake" Narrative of Women Empowering Women

Sydney Sweeney calls Hollywood’s claim of "women empowering women" a front, saying it's "fake" and "not happening."

Sydney Sweeney has voiced her frustration over Hollywood's portrayal of female empowerment, labeling it "fake" and a facade in a recent interview with Vanity Fair

Earlier this year, Sweeney was criticized by veteran producer Carol Baum, who questioned her talent and appearance, calling Sweeney “not pretty” and “unable to act.” The harsh remarks stirred controversy, with Sweeney’s representative condemning Baum’s comments as a disappointing example of women tearing each other down.

Reflecting on the experience, Sweeney expressed dismay over the industry's tendency to undermine young talent. She explained, “It’s very disheartening to see women tear other women down… this industry claims ‘women empowering other women,’ but none of it’s happening.” Sweeney highlighted what she perceives as a generational mindset that pits women against one another rather than fostering mutual support. Despite the criticism, Sweeney remains focused on her work and continues to advocate for genuine empowerment in Hollywood.
