Fact Check: Taylor Swift did not announce a boycott of Red States following Trump’s reelection

Rumours of Taylor Swift boycotting red states after Trump’s reelection are false, originating from satire sites.

Following Donald Trump’s reelection, a viral rumor circulated on social media claiming that pop star Taylor Swift announced a boycott of red states. The claim, shared widely on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), falsely suggested that Swift planned to avoid performing in or endorsing states that traditionally vote Republican.

The rumors reportedly stemmed from SpaceXMania.com, a satire website, which posted a fictional quote from Swift, “I can't in good conscience perform there.” Further fueling the misconception, The Patriots Network also published a satirical post, labeling it as “fictional” and “rated satire.” Fact-checking sources, including Snopes, confirmed that neither Swift nor her representatives have issued any such statement.

This incident highlights the swift spread of misinformation and the challenges of discerning fact from satire.
