Marvel Studios recently removed its much-anticipated Blade movie, starring Mahershala Ali, from its release calendar, raising questions among fans about the project’s future. However, studio president Kevin Feige assured audiences at the D23 Brazil 2024 event that Blade remains a priority. "We are committed to Blade," Feige said, expressing confidence in Ali’s portrayal of the iconic vampire hunter and confirming Marvel’s determination to bring the character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Initially announced in July 2019, the project has faced multiple setbacks, including the departure of directors Bassam Tariq in 2022 and Yann Demange in June 2024, alongside script changes involving numerous writers. Originally set for release on Nov. 7, 2025, Blade will now be postponed, with Predator: Badlands taking its place on the release schedule. Feige emphasized that Marvel is prioritizing quality over speed, stating, “The most important thing for us is not rushing it and making sure we are making the right Blade movie.”
