Chief of General Staff meets PLA commander in Beijing to strengthen bilateral military cooperation
Pakistan’s Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Mohammad Owais Dastagir, visited the headquarters of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Beijing on Monday, where he met with PLA Commander General Li Qiaoming.
The meeting focused on global and regional security issues and strengthening bilateral military cooperation. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Dastagir expressed heartfelt condolences over the recent loss of Chinese lives in the Karachi attack.
He reassured that Pakistan would ensure the enhanced protection of Chinese citizens within the country. In response, General Li praised Pakistan’s efforts to improve the security of Chinese nationals in the region.
The two military leaders also agreed to intensify cooperation in combating common threats to regional peace and development. They discussed advancing collaboration in military education, training, equipment, and technology.
Furthermore, both sides committed to institutionalising mechanisms for better exchange of experiences and regular dialogue.
The visit highlights the ongoing strengthening of military ties between Pakistan and China, with an emphasis on mutual support and shared security interests.
