Liam Payne’s death ruled not suicide as Argentinian investigation reveals drugs in system
The ongoing investigation into Liam Payne’s death—carried out in Argentina, where he passed away last month—has ruled out suicide as the cause of his fatal fall.
As reported by Live Mint on November 10, 2024, Argentinian authorities concluded that Payne's cause of death aligns with autopsy findings, which identified multiple injuries from his fall from a hotel balcony. The autopsy also noted that Payne did not attempt to shield himself during the fall, indicating he may have been semi-conscious or unconscious at the time.
A toxicology analysis revealed multiple substances in Payne's system, potentially contributing to his loss of consciousness. The report confirmed "traces of alcohol, cocaine, and a prescribed antidepressant."
According to Live Mint, local prosecutors determined that Payne's injuries were not self-inflicted nor due to interference by others. This follows charges against three suspects in relation to Payne's death.
One of the suspects reportedly had a professional relationship with Payne, another was employed at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel where he was staying, and the third is alleged to have supplied the substances found in Payne's system.
The suspects face allegations of "abandonment of a person followed by death" and "supplying and facilitating the use of narcotics." As the investigation remains open, these individuals are under multiple restrictions, including a ban on leaving Argentina.
This case shares similarities with the investigation into Matthew Perry’s death last year, where his personal assistant and a longtime friend faced charges for providing the FRIENDS actor with ketamine during his final months.
