DJ Akademiks comments on Young Thug’s deleted diss post targeting Gunna amid ongoing YSL controversy

DJ Akademiks discusses Young Thug’s deleted post on Gunna, fueling speculation about the rappers' YSL relationship.

DJ Akademiks has weighed in on a recent incident where Young Thug posted, then deleted, a tweet targeting Gunna, sparking rumors about the rappers' strained relationship. The November 9 tweet from Young Thug’s X account read, “Gunna stop acting like we friends on the internet. I don’t know u my guy,” which was quickly deleted, leaving fans to speculate about possible tensions. Akademiks shared his insights on the matter in a series of tweets on November 10, claiming that the diss aligns with previous comments Thug allegedly made while in custody.

According to Akademiks, Young Thug warned several rappers, including Lil Durk and Lil Baby, that “Gunna was no good” while Thug was incarcerated. Akademiks added, “It ain’t no way he can come back out and justify rockin’ wit Gunna,” suggesting that Young Thug’s comments reflect a deep-seated rift.

Both rappers were initially arrested under the RICO Act in 2022 as part of a larger crackdown on Young Stoner Life (YSL) associates. While Gunna was released in December 2022 after pleading guilty to conspiracy charges via an Alford plea, Thug remained in custody until October 31, 2024, only recently accepting a plea deal himself. Rumors about Gunna's alleged cooperation with authorities have circulated since his release, adding to the public's fascination with the duo's interactions.

Akademiks also addressed Gunna’s potential exit from YSL Records, though he clarified that Gunna has remained under the YSL label through collaborative deals. He further mentioned a planned album release by Thug coinciding with Gunna’s release date that was later canceled, suggesting ongoing tensions.
