Tribal clash claims two more lives
An ongoing tribal clash between Jaiha and Dahani communities in Larkana district claimed two more lives on Sunday, taking the toll to 14 killings including of two women and a school student. The fresh clash, which involved exchange of fire reportedly lasting for three hours between the two sides, occurred in Nau Dero area in the jurisdiction of Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto police station.
Jhando Dahani and Abdul Raheem Dahani were killed in the armed fight. A police contingent led by DSP Nisar Brohi eventually succeeded in stopping the armed men from firing gunshots. However, no arrests were either declared or reportedly made. The cops later shifted the dead bodies to Naudero government hospital for postmortem.
The women of Dahani community told the media in the hospital that they were allegedly attacked by Jaiha side. Meanwhile, DIG Larkana Nasir Aftab Pathan while taking notice of the clash directed the SSP Mir Rohail Khoso to deploy more police in the area to prevent resumption of violent hostilities.
DSP Brohi told the media that both the slain persons were innocent and were not previously involved in the ongoing tribal clash between Jaihas and Dahanis. He claimed that they police are trying to round up the killers and to prevent further violence in the area.
The tribal conflict sparked over a free will marriage issue over four years ago. So far eight persons of Dahanis and six of Jaihas have been killed. Police and other law enforcement agencies have failed to rein in the violent tribal clashes in Sindh.
