How one morning changed Naeema Butt's life
Actor Naeema Butt, who's winning over audiences with her portrayal of Rubab in Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, recently opened up about the almost-career in medicine that could have taken her life in a completely different direction. Before her acting debut, Naeema was on track to become a doctor, following in her mother's footsteps, until one fateful decision veered her off that path.
Reflecting on her mother's dreams, Naeema shared on Mazaq Raat, "My mother's wish was that I became a doctor because she is one herself. I did FSC medical in college but then changed to mass communication. It was destiny that it happened. The day I had my MBBS exam, I didn't feel like waking up and that was the day I decided I didn't want to be a doctor." For Naeema, that morning marked a pivotal momentbut she was quick to clarify it wasn't simply a case of not wanting to get out of bed. Instead, it was a revelation that had been quietly brewing for years.
To those who assume that her life took a turn because of one "lazy morning," Naeema has a thoughtful response. "A decision isn't always made because of one thing, there's always a build-up," she explained. "For many things, you may feel like it's a split-second decision, but subconsciously your mind is being trained from a young age from one angle or the other. After building up for a while, it suddenly comes out, and you believe that it's you who has made that decision, but in reality, at some point, it was embedded into your subconscious."
Interestingly, while she's cautious about the idea of split-second decisions, she does embrace the notion of "love at first sight," albeit with her own twist. "I do believe in love at first sight, but that's also a build-up. What did I like at first sight? A preference I developed at some point in the past," Naeema noted. "Whatever I was looking for in my subconscious, or whatever I had in mind since childhood for what someone should be is what I will end up loving at first sight."
