HBO responds to Euphoria cancellation rumors
HBO has officially debunked rumors surrounding the cancellation of its critically acclaimed series, Euphoria. ‘
Reports circulated on social media suggesting the show's cast and crew were walking away from the project. However, an HBO representative clarified that "Euphoria is going into production in 2025. Nothing has changed."
The series, created by Sam Levinson, has experienced significant delays due to the writers' and actors' strikes in 2023 and the passing of actor Angus Cloud. Despite these setbacks, HBO's top executive, Casey Bloys, confirmed the return of the core cast, including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Sydney Sweeney.
Bloys revealed that Season 3 will depart from its high school setting, exploring themes of individuality and corruption. Levinson described the upcoming season as "film noir" style, focusing on Zendaya's character, Rue.
Euphoria's second season garnered immense success, becoming HBO's second most-watched show behind Game of Thrones, with episodes averaging 16.3 million viewers.
