ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has permitted the submission of additional documents in the case challenging the President's decision to reject the summary for the National University for Security Sciences Islamabad Bill 2023.

IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq granted the request filed by petitioner Chaudhry Hamid Hameed.

During the session, Farooq H Naik, representing the petitioner, presented arguments in support of the request.

The court accepted the petition and scheduled the main hearing for November 26, directing that the summary be provided to the petitioner.

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training in May 2023 approved a bill for the establishment of the private university despite opposition from the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

The committee took up the bill moved by Dr Nisar Ahmed Cheema.
