Young Thug’s sister reveals rapper went through ‘trauma’ behind bars

Following his release from jail on October 31, rapper Young Thug is receiving a mix of support and scrutiny. 

After over 900 days behind bars, Thugger, who took a non-negotiated plea deal, is being urged by family to have time and space to heal. His sister, Dora Williams, has called for fans and friends to be mindful of his need to process the experience and not seek personal gain from his situation.

In a message posted on X, formerly Twitter, Williams wrote, “I really wish everyone [would] value the fact that my brother is human & actually went thru a lot of trauma. As did his family.” She added that Young Thug would appreciate genuine support over clout-chasing interactions. “If he’s asking for you to come around him, it’s to just chill, not gain clout,” Williams said, asking that supporters “shower him with love.”

Fans have been eagerly speculating about Thug’s first public appearance, with rumors circulating of a possible outing at a Colorado University football game. Dolly White, another of Young Thug’s sisters, responded to Deion Sanders Jr., Coach Prime’s son, who posted that it would be “LEGENDARY” for Thug to attend a Buffaloes game. White replied, “We comin,” and Sanders Jr. confirmed on X, “Talked to her and Thug on FaceTime last night… it’s happening.”

Though Young Thug hasn’t made an official public appearance, T.I. recently shared a video of the two meeting, and Thug was seen in a virtual appearance alongside his attorney, Brian Steele, with a class of law students.
