Liam Payne’s toxicology report reveals cocaine, alcohol, and antidepressants prior to fatal fall
Former One Direction member Liam Payne's tragic death has been further illuminated by a toxicology report released by Argentine authorities, revealing a mix of cocaine, alcohol, and prescription antidepressants in his system. The report was disclosed shortly after Payne’s passing at the CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires, where he fell from a third-floor balcony. Argentine prosecutors shared the findings on Thursday, noting that Payne’s toxicology results “revealed traces of polydrug use,” suggesting he had consumed these substances over a period of at least 72 hours leading up to the incident. Payne’s family was informed of the results, as confirmed by AFP.
Following the 29-year-old's death, which was ruled as consistent with a fall, prosecutors have charged three individuals believed to be connected to his passing. Among the accused, a person who spent time with Payne daily is alleged to have supplied him with drugs and later abandoned him in a vulnerable state. A hotel employee is also accused of providing cocaine on two occasions, while a third individual reportedly supplied the substance two days before Payne’s fall.
Payne’s untimely death on October 16 shocked fans worldwide, leading to an outpouring of grief across social media. Payne, who gained fame with One Direction, had continued a solo music career after the band went on hiatus in 2016. Payne’s injuries were described by medical examiners as “multiple traumas,” with significant blood loss resulting from the fall. Authorities have ruled out suicide, with prosecutors suggesting he may not have been fully conscious when the fall occurred.
