Afghanistan's Mohammad Nabi set to retire after Champions Trophy 2025

All-rounder retired from Test cricket in 2019 but continued to be a key figure in Afghanistan's limited-overs formats.

Afghanistan's star all-rounder, Mohammad Nabi, is set to retire from One-Day International (ODI) cricket following the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed the news, with ACB CEO Naseeb Khan stating that Nabi had informed the board of his decision several months ago.

"Nabi has expressed his desire to retire from ODIs after the Champions Trophy, and we fully respect his decision," Khan told Cricbuzz.

"He will continue to play T20 cricket after that, which is the current plan."

Nabi, widely regarded as one of Afghanistan's greatest cricketers, has made a significant impact on the national team since his debut in 2009.

Known as 'The President' for his leadership on and off the field, Nabi has scored 3549 runs in 165 ODIs, averaging 27.30, and has taken 171 wickets.

His remarkable career includes memorable performances, including a half-century on his debut against Scotland and a recent 82-run knock against Bangladesh in the ongoing ODI series in Sharjah.
