LAHORE:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday extended for six days the physical remand of a woman accused of inciting public unrest by falsely claiming to be the mother of an alleged rape victim from a college in Lahore.

The police had produced the suspect, Sarah, before ATC Judge Irfan Haider upon expiry of her remand.

The investigating officer informed the court that a mobile phone belonging to the accused had been recovered from Multan, while another phone was still to be retrieved.

The official requested extension in physical remand for recovery of the second phone and a voice matching test for examining a video. The court extended the physical remand for six days and directed the police to keep the suspect in custody during the day and send her to jail each evening.

The Gulberg police had registered a case against the woman under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
