Exhibit showcases Punjab's cultural heritage
Punjab Arts Council's Executive Director, Muhammad Majid Tanveer, visited the Council in Rawalpindi and inaugurated an art exhibition featuring works by renowned artists Khurram Shahbaz Babri, Muhammad Azeem Iqbal, and Muhammad Younas Rumi.
Speaking as the chief guest, he praised the artists and reiterated the global significance of artists as messengers of peace. He also lauded the Punjab Arts Council for providing a platform for emerging artists, allowing young painters to showcase their work free of charge. The exhibition attracted a large and enthusiastic crowd from across the twin cities.
During his visit, Tanveer toured various facilities, including the auditorium, art gallery, art classes, and office block. Punjab Arts Council's Director Sajjad Hussain provided a detailed briefing on the Council's seasonal programmes and activities. He shared exciting plans for the upcoming Lok Virsa Festival, highlighting that 50 master artisans from across Punjab would be featured in the Punjab Pavilion. The pavilion will also showcase folk performances, including traditional dances like Bhangra, Luddi, Jhumar, and Simi, as well as display historical architecture and a glimpse of traditional village life.
Tanveer said that the festival would beautifully reflect the diversity and cultural richness of Punjab, while recognising the Punjab government's significant role in promoting arts and culture throughout the region.
