Adam McKay urges Liberals to abandon the Democratic Party as Trump declares 2024 Victory
Director Adam McKay, known for films like The Big Short and Don’t Look Up, voiced strong criticism of the Democratic Party as Donald Trump clinched victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. In a post on X, McKay shared a link to update voter registration, declaring, “It is time to abandon the Dem Party,” and hinted at registering with the Green or Working Families Party.
He criticized the Democrats' strategy, from "lying about Biden’s cognitive health" to "embracing fracking," suggesting that liberals are more focused on optics than real issues. McKay’s comments follow his history of endorsing progressive candidates like Bernie Sanders and signing an open letter to President Biden calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.
McKay didn’t hold back on his disappointment with the party’s election approach, questioning, “But I thought liberals’ whole thing is being smart? It’s not?” He went on to call for “dusty hacks” in the Democratic leadership to spread blame post-election, adding that their strategy didn’t resonate with voters. While Trump was declared the winner after securing Pennsylvania, McKay’s remarks highlight a deeper frustration with the current direction of the Democratic Party.
