Donald Trump’s re-election has triggered a wave of reactions across Hollywood, with celebrities expressing dismay, anger, and calls for resilience in response to the 2024 U.S. election outcome.

Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris, despite high-profile support from stars like Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez, has left many questioning the future of the nation.

Cardi B, who campaigned for Harris, shared her frustration on Instagram, saying, “I hate y’all bad.” Meanwhile, Jamie Lee Curtis described the re-election as a “return to a more restrictive, some fear draconian time,” urging Americans to “fight for women and our children.”

Director Adam McKay critiqued the Democratic Party’s strategy, saying their approach, including “lying about Biden’s cognitive health” and “embracing fracking,” failed to resonate. John Cusack called the decision a sign of “deep nihilism,” while Christina Applegate revealed her own family’s sadness, expressing concern for women’s rights.

Whoopi Goldberg expressed frustration, particularly when responding to a meme circulating that falsely claimed she would leave the country if he won. On The View, Goldberg firmly denied the rumor, stating, “I’m not going anywhere, okay?” She also called Trump a “lil snowflake” for engaging with the meme. Despite years of discussing her dissatisfaction with Trump, Goldberg remains outspoken in her commitment to staying in the U.S.

In a heartfelt message, Ariana Grande wrote she is “holding the hand of every person” affected by the outcome, while The Wire’s Wendell Pierce warned of a changed Supreme Court under Trump’s administration. Oscar winner Viola Davis thanked Harris for her “bravery,” as other celebrities, including Billie Eilish, Stephen King, and Whoopi Goldberg, voiced their fears for the future.

Director Duncan Jones likened the outcome to the Brexit referendum, writing that the election “overestimated the goodness in people.” Similarly, singer Ethel Cain condemned Trump voters, hoping they would confront “the knowledge and guilt of what [they’ve] done.”

As Hollywood reacts to Trump’s re-election, voices from across the entertainment industry continue to spark conversation and reflect the polarized response to America’s 2024 election.
