Alleged love triangle triggers early morning firefight on Sharea Faisal
Two security guards were injured in a shootout between occupants of two cars allegedly over a love triangle early Wednesday morning on the bustling Sharea Faisal.
As per police sources, a woman, accompanied by her new boyfriend, was going on Sharea Faisal in his luxury car when her old boyfriend allegedly started chasing them in his SUV and attempted to stop them by firing gunshots.
In response, security guards in the luxury opened fire on the guards in the SUV. The fire exchange continued as the two vehicles sped on the city's main artery reaching the Star Gate of the Karachi Airport.
Personnel of a security agency alerted by firing ion the red zone intercepted both the vehicles and took all the men in the custody. Whereas the main cause of the trouble, slipped away in the melee.
The security agency officers handed over the five men - including the two security guards involved in the shooting - to the Airport police station.
Police seized recovered weapons from both the vehicles and filed cases in a manner to allow the influential people slip through and send their employees to jail. Police sources added that one of the luxury vehicles involved in the shootout did not have a number plate and had tinted windows. Preliminary investigation revealed that the occupants of the two vehicles had been involved in an argument earlier at an elite club.
Two security guards, identified as Fazal Rehman and Muhammad Nawaz, were injured in the fire exchange and were later provided treatment. The Express Tribune tried to reach out to police high-ups, including DIG East Ghulam Azfar Mahesar, SSP Malir Kashif Abbasi, and DSP Airport Azam Baloch, but none of them offered a statement on the incident. The District East Police, as well as the Airport Police, were also tight-lipped on the incident and investigation.
