Rescue teams contained the fire after several hours of struggle.

CHAK JHUMRA:

A fire broke out in an oil tanker during unloading oil at a petrol pump on Canal Road. The fire spread to two shops, a nearby rickshaw and a motorcycle.

Rescue teams contained the fire after several hours of struggle. As soon as the information about the fire was received, the top management officers including the police reached the spot and closed the canal road and let the rescue teams work under their supervision.

The incident took place near Thatha Pul (Bridge) on Canal Road in the jurisdiction of Mansoorabad police station. An oil tanker had arrived at the petrol pump to deliver fuel. While the tanker was being reversed to unload, a technical fault caused a spark, which ignited the tanker.

The flames quickly engulfed the oil tanker. As the tanker was reversed, it caused nearby shops, a rickshaw, and a motorcycle to catch fire as well. On receiving the information about the fire, 10 fire vehicle teams of Rescue 1122 took part and brought the fire under control.

The authorities shut down the traffic heading towards Canal Road in order to avoid any further incidents, leading to long traffic jams.
