CM announces interest-free loans for 80k livestock farmers

Punjab's first Livestock Card will be activated on December 15, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced.

She said registration for the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif Livestock Card has started and 80,000 farmers across Punjab will benefit from the scheme.

The recipients will be able to purchase cattle feed, mineral mixture and silage from registered dealers through the card.

Cattle farmers will be able to get an interest-free loan of Rs27,000 per animal, amounting to up to Rs270,000 .

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the farmers would receive the loan in installments and its issuance would begin after four months.

She said livestock farmers could register for the card at their nearest veterinary hospitals or by sending a message to phone number 8070 with the required information. A helpline has also been activated for the applicants.

"All measures are being taken for the economic independence of every farmer living in villages of Punjab. We will fully support the farmers and cattle growers of Punjab. The journey of development has started. We will make everybody its stakeholder," the chief minister added.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said in her message on International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict, "In Gaza and other areas, not only people, but the environment are being destroyed by the war."
