RAWALPINDI:

Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs Punjab, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, announced that Pakistani visas for Sikhs are now free and can be obtained online within 48 hours.

Pakistan, with 280 Sikh religious sites—80% of which hold deep religious significance—has immense potential for religious tourism, he said while speaking at a conference on tourism potential held at a local hotel in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Arora highlighted Pakistan's natural beauty and rich tourism offerings, including religious, cultural, mountain, and coastal sites. "Every Sikh has a religious bond with Pakistan, and their hearts beat with Pakistan," he said, underscoring the deep spiritual connection Sikhs have with these sacred sites.

The minister added that Pakistan is home to more than 200 gurdwaras, with over 100 located in Nankana, Lahore, Kasur, and Narowal. He dismissed false claims regarding the security of Sikh sites in Pakistan, noting the country's commitment to preserving its Sikh heritage. He also mentioned that Jainists are eager to visit Pakistan due to their historical ties. Other conference speakers lauded the government initiatives to boost tourism, which they believe will strengthen Pakistan's image abroad and bring economic benefits.
