Elon Musk allegedly changes X's like button to Donald Trump’s head amid US election
The close race in the US election saw a curious move from Elon Musk, CEO of X, previously known as Twitter. Musk introduced an animated change to the like button on X around midday on Tuesday, coinciding with the polling process. Later that day, some social media users began posting claims that Musk, a prominent Trump supporter, altered the like button animation again, now featuring an image of Donald Trump's head.
Yet, recent reports indicate that most users have not noticed any change in their ‘like button’ on X. The current claim suggests the like button changes to a ballot box animation upon being pressed, which some users believe might be an attempt to show support for Trump. The animation video has quickly spread across the internet, with platforms like Facebook and Instagram joining the conversation.
Despite the viral buzz, there has been no official confirmation of any changes to X's like button, leading some to speculate that this could be a hoax aimed at fueling rumors about X and Musk.
A similar rumor surfaced around Halloween, alleging that X’s like button had been swapped out for a pumpkin animation to mark the holiday. In that case too, there was no official response from X. Consequently, it remains uncertain if Musk is behind the rumored ballot box animation replacing X's like button, as suggested by social media at this time.
