HYDERABAD:

Seema Jakhro, a resident of Ratodero in Larkana, staged a protest in front of the Hyderabad Press Club against the alleged threats from her paternal uncle to kill her and her husband Mudassir Jagirani by declaring them Karo-Kari for consummating free-will marriage.

She said that she wanted to marry her beloved by her own free will, due to which she had left her home a month and a half ago, but when her uncles, Muhammad Bachal and Ghazanfar got the news of her marriage, they started searching her and her husband Mudassir Jagirani.

Jakhro said she sought refuge with the police, who later transferred her to Daar-ul-Aman (shelter home) in Larkana. Later, her father came to the shelter after 23 days and took her with him and handed her over to her cousin's son, Ahmed Bakhsh Jakhro.

But in the meantime, her aunt and others tried to take her to different cities in order to sell her, in which they failed to succeed. Later, Ahmed Bakhsh helped her by making her contact with Jagirani and handed her to him, after which they got married in Thatta.
