Mob attacks anti-dengue team

RAWALPINDI:

Members of an anti-dengue team were attacked and tortured during a round of inspection and insecticide spraying in Union Council (UC) Ranyal area of Dhamyal police station in Rawalpindi. The police have registered a case of resistance.

According to the police, the incident took place when the dengue team approached a house in Afshan Colony in UC Ranyal and a young man named Arbaaz came to the door but went back inside without talking to them.

The team moved on to the next house when, five minutes later, Arbaaz returned with around 15 people alongside him and began to attack the team.

The group of people physically assaulted the team members, hitting them with rods and sticks. One of the team members' mobile phones was also snatched and broken.

Meanwhile, the emergency number 15 was called.

The police reached the spot and arrested two persons, namely Muhammad Riaz and Sher Ali alias Shera as Arbaaz and the others made their escape.

Dhamiyal police station has registered a case and started the investigation.
