Dick Van Dyke endorses Kamala Harris for President
Ninety-eight-year-old entertainment icon Dick Van Dyke has endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race, marking his support by reading a powerful message from his past. In a newly released YouTube video, Van Dyke revisits a speech he gave at a 1964 civil rights event alongside Martin Luther King Jr., bringing renewed attention to its timeless message on equality. Originally crafted by screenwriter Rod Serling, the message condemns the notion that inequality is a “necessary evil.”

"To those who tell us the inequality of the human animal is a necessary evil, we must respond by simply saying that first, it is evil, but not necessary," Van Dyke stated, reaffirming his stance on justice. The 1964 event, held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, was part of the historic momentum leading to the Civil Rights Act later that summer.Though Van Dyke previously endorsed Bernie Sanders in 2020 and supported Joe Biden earlier this year, his latest endorsement shows his steadfast commitment to social justice. He joins a growing list of Hollywood figures endorsing Harris, including Richard Gere and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
