Lil Durk allegedly speaks from prison for first time after arrest in new Hypno Carlito song
Lil Durk, also known as Durk Devontay Banks, reportedly speaks out from prison for the first time since his recent arrest, appearing in Hypno Carlito's new song. On Friday, November 1, 2024, Carlito released his latest track, Where Smurk Go, which includes what is claimed to be a phone call from Lil Durk made from a federal correctional facility.
Lil Durk says, "Hypno Carlito my motherf**king brother from another. Forever legend OFT (Only The Family) and I take yo f**king streets over... N*gga you know what time it is rest in peace."
Banks was arrested by U.S. Marshals last week on charges related to an alleged murder-for-hire plot targeting Quando Rondo in 2022. Rondo is suspected of involvement in the murder of King Von, who was signed to Lil Durk’s OTF label in 2020. Authorities claim that Durk put a bounty on Rondo. Although Rondo survived, his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, was killed.
As news of Hypno Carlito's song spread, online users quickly reacted. One person called the alleged phone call fake, saying: "I feel this is AI."
Some criticized Carlito for “clout chasing,” while others condemned him for using the phone call in his song. Here are a few comments found on X:
"This another type of clout chasing," one user wrote.
"ill be mad as hell they book me and my homie call me 2 days later talm bout make a intro for his song," another commented.
"N*gga knew where to press before the talking ended....not a newcomer tho," a fan joked.
Many users doubted the call’s authenticity.
