Conservative podcaster Megyn Kelly took the stage in Pittsburgh on Monday night to rally for Donald Trump in what was described as his “closing message” event. Kelly’s appearance marked a significant moment in her relationship with Trump, following their well-known feud during the 2016 campaign.
Defending Trump on issues like border security and his commitment to protecting women, she stated, “He got mocked by the left by saying he would be a protector of women… He will be a protector of women and it’s why I’m voting for him. He will close the border and he will keep the boys out of women’s sports where they don’t belong.” Trump stood by, smiling, as Kelly spoke in support of his policies.
After the event, Kelly shared a selfie with Trump on X (formerly Twitter) captioned, “God bless him. Go vote for him!”
This public show of support contrasts sharply with the tension between them in 2016, when Trump criticized her on social media following her questioning of his temperament in a primary debate.
Back then, he dismissed her as “not very tough and not very sharp,” and made a controversial comment about her, which many perceived as sexist. Kelly later left Fox News for NBC, where her career hit a setback after comments she made on air. She has since built a strong following with her SiriusXM podcast, one of the top-ranked shows in news podcasts.
Kelly’s support for Trump comes amid a push to narrow the gender gap in early voting, which currently leans in favor of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
Despite her endorsement, Kelly previously criticized the tone of some of Trump’s events, specifically at a Madison Square Garden rally last month where some speakers made racially insensitive remarks about Harris.
She commented that while the rally was “exciting and well-attended,” some speakers “gave themselves a big black eye” with their comments.
