ISLAMABAD:

Bushra Bibi, wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, broke into tears during the hearing of pre-arrest bail in five cases against the couple at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Monday, asserting that justice “doesn’t exist” in the country.
Additional Sessions Judge Islamabad Muhammad Afzal Majoka heard the bail plea in cases pertaining to protests and vandalism as well as one concerning fake receipts in a Toshakhana case. The judge reserved his ruling on Bibi’s pre-arrest bail application in the fake receipts case.
During her court appearance, Bibi expressed frustration with what she described as “systematic unfairness” meted out to her for the past nine months. “I didn’t come here seeking justice. There is no justice,” she said.
Questioning the integrity of the judicial process, she said: “Is the person inside [Imran Khan] not a human being? Do the judges not see this?” expressing her disillusionment with the legal system, she said that it would be her last court appearance. She claimed that the lawyers were just wasting time.
After hearing arguments from the PTI’s lawyer and the prosecutor, along with the statement from the investigation officer (IO), the court reserved its decision on the bail pleas of Imran and Bibi.
The decision was likely to be announced on November 18.
The court called for arguments on six petitions of PTI founder and ordered him to ensure attendance via a video link at the next hearing. The court directed the Adiala jail superintendent to ensure the PTI founder’s attendance via video link.
