KARACHI:

A woman's body and an unconscious man were found inside a vehicle parked at workshop in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase II area.

They were immediately shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). The woman was identified as Javeria Sultan, 29, while the unconscious man was Kashif, her sister's husband. Following the information, police and Javeria's family reached the hospital.

According to Defence police station SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi, the unconscious man found at the scene was the brother-in-law of the Javeria Sultan.

Javeria, a resident of Shireen Jinnah Colony, originally hailed from Attock. SHO reported that Javeria's father in his initial statement stated that his daughter had left home around 6:30am to go to the gym, stating that her friends were waiting for her there. He also mentioned that his son-in-law had come to pick up her.

Meanwhile, Clifton SP Majida Halepoto said that Kashif owned the Rathore Workshop. However, both of them were present in a parked car with windows closed, engine running and the air conditioner turned on. Police suspect that Javeria died from suffocation due to carbon monoxide poisoning. The victims did not bear any signs of physical harm, nor had they consumed any poisonous substance. SP Halepoto said if they had ingested something toxic, foams would have come out of their mouth, and their skin colour would have changed, but no such indications were found.

The final cause of death will be confirmed through the post-mortem report, she added. Moreover, Kashif's condition is stabilising. Police are thoroughly investigating all aspects of the incident.
