Reliable gas supply in winter sought

Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry (HCST&SI) President Muhammad Saleem Memon has asked Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to ensure a reliable and safe supply of gas during the winter season.

In a letter written to the SSGC managing director, Memon pointed out that demand for gas significantly rises in winter, which leads to the proliferation of unlicensed and substandard gas filling centres in the residential areas.

These unauthorised outlets pose a serious risk to the human life and are in direct violation of the safety standards, he cautioned and proposed that the company should establish officially registered gas distribution points in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas, similar to Karachi, to provide safe and certified gas containers to the public. These points will allow citizens convenient access to high-quality gas containers through official channels and enable online registration and ordering services, ultimately discouraging the illegal business.

He called for adopting strict inspection and certification processes to ensure that only high-quality gas cylinders are distributed.
