Juice WRLD’s mom celebrates Fortnite collab as tribute to late son’s legacy
Carmella Wallace, mother of the late rapper Juice WRLD, recently shared her thoughts on Fortnite’s latest collaboration that honors her son’s memory.
The partnership includes a limited-time “cel-shaded Slayer Juice WRLD Outfit” skin available to players who log in between November 30 at 1 a.m. ET and December 1 at 1 a.m. ET. Reflecting on the tribute, Wallace expressed pride in how her son’s legacy is celebrated beyond music, adding, "Jarad always loved to play Fortnite – it was more than just entertainment for him, it was a way to connect with others."
For Wallace, this collaboration represents a meaningful nod to Juice WRLD’s lifelong love for video games. “From a young age, video games were a part of how he bonded with friends and family, and being in Fortnite is an incredible tribute to that connection,” she told Sports Illustrated. “I know he would be overjoyed to see how his love for games continues to bring people together across different spaces, just like his music does.”
The skin’s release coincides with the launch of Juice WRLD’s posthumous album, The Party Never Ends, which will drop on November 22. Fortnite’s Chapter 2 Remix trailer hinted at the tribute by displaying Juice’s iconic 999 symbol on an empty chair and in the clouds, accompanied by a silhouette of his head.
Fortnite fans have responded enthusiastically to the announcement, with comments on the teaser trailer expressing excitement about the long-awaited skin. One fan shared, “We all have been waiting,” while another added, “Bro, my life is complete.”
