Official nominated for CCB post

Azhar Naeem for vice president slot for remaining term

RAWALPINDI:

As per the agreement between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), the term of JI's Vice President Khalid Mirza has ended. Ignoring the expected candidate and former Vice President Raja Irfan Imtiaz, PML-N has nominated Malik Azhar Naeem as the Vice President candidate for the remaining term of the Chaklala Cantonment Board, which extends until December 2025.

In the July 2021 Cantonment Board elections, five seats went to PML-N, filled by Raja Irfan Imtiaz, Chaudhry Changez Khan, Raja Pervaiz Akhtar, Malik Azhar Naeem, and Muhammad Jamil. Meanwhile, JI's Khalid Mehmood Mirza and Yasir Qureshi, PTI's Nauman Shaukat and Ajmeer Khan, and independent candidate Chaudhry Shehzad Ahmed were also elected.

As per an agreement between PML-N and JI, PML-N's Chaudhry Changez Khan first served as Vice President, followed by JI's Khalid Mehmood Mirza. With Mirza's term now complete, the Vice Presidency returns to PML-N. Despite anticipation that Raja Irfan Imtiaz would resume the role, PML-N's local leadership has opted to nominate Malik Azhar Naeem instead.

JI's minority member George Shehzad has also completed his term, with polling for his replacement scheduled for November 11.
