Five people killed, 15 others injured as coach plunges into ditch in Jacobabad

A passenger coach travelling from Baluchistan to Punjab plunged into a ditch in Jacobabad’s Thull area, killing five passengers and injuring 15, local media sources reported on Saturday.

The deadly incident occurred in the A-section police jurisdiction, with the coach carrying a full load of passengers when it veered off the road.

Police and rescue teams arrived at the scene, transferring the injured to Thull Taluka Hospital for medical assistance.

The deceased have also been shifted to the hospital, where authorities are completing necessary formalities, according to police officials.

In a previous incident in May, another coach accident in Jacobabad’s Daival Machhi village led to one fatality and over 30 injuries when a bus carrying wedding guests overturned after a tyre burst, highlighting ongoing safety concerns on the region’s roads.

Sukkur Express derails near Kotril Railway Station

Three bogies of Sukkur Express derailed near Kotri Railway Station in Jamshoro district on Tuesday, suspending railway traffic passing through Hyderabad and Jamshoro for around 10 hours.

The train was heading to Karachi from Sukkur. The bogies derailed at a curved track after passing through Baba Nathu Shah Railway crossing. Fortunately, all passengers remained unscathed.

The uptrack was cleared in around five hours while it took double the time to clear the downtrack on which the derailment occurred. Executive Engineer Amjadullah said a technical team from Karachi has visited the track, adding that the team will explain the exact cause of the incident in its report.
