ISLAMABAD:

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal chaired a high-level meeting on Friday to assess the transfer of Pak Public Works Department (Pak-PWD) projects to provincial governments under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

During the meeting, the additional secretary of housing and works provided an update on project transfers. All Pak-PWD projects designated for Punjab have been successfully handed over, according to the planning ministry's press release.

Iqbal emphasised the need to expedite the remaining transfers, particularly for Sindh, directing that its handover be completed within five days. "Efforts must be made to ensure the remaining work in Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is completed by next week," he said, underscoring the importance of effective coordination between federal and provincial bodies.

He noted that a clear transfer mechanism has been established and instructed that any non-cooperation issues be reported to the Director General of Pak-PWD and relevant provincial departments. This measure aims to strengthen accountability and ensure seamless project transitions.

The ministry is committed to supporting provincial stakeholders throughout this process, Iqbal reiterated, stressing the need for timely and efficient handovers across all provinces.
