Health Dept fails to contain dengue outbreak

The number of dengue patients in private hospitals has exceeded 350.

RAWALPINDI:

The Punjab Health Department is struggling to control the dengue virus despite stringent measures and regular fogging. The outbreak continues to escalate, with 131 new dengue patients were admitted to government hospitals during the past 24 hours, raising the total number of cases in the city to 481.

The number of dengue patients in private hospitals has exceeded 350. All allocated dengue beds in hospitals are full, and more beds are being allocated.

The virus has claimed the lives of 12 patients so far while the total number of dengue patients has now reached 4,839.

Dengue has spread to all rural areas of the Rawalpindi district, with 12 reported deaths. Around 47 patients from Potohar Town, 36 from Rawalpindi Cantonment and 22 patients from Rawalpindi were admitted to hospitals.
