ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted temporary protection from arrest to Naeem Haider Panjutha and instructed authorities to refrain from detaining him until the next hearing.

Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz presided over Panjutha's plea seeking both protection from arrest and details on the cases filed against him.

Advocates Faisal Chaudhry and Ajaz Buttar represented Panjutha, arguing for transparency in the charges and a stay on arrest.

In response, the court ordered officials to submit a comprehensive list of the cases against Panjutha and ruled that no arrest should take place without the court's permission until further notice.

The hearing has been postponed to next week.

Separately, the Attorney General of Pakistan informed the IHC of the anticipated recovery of Intezar Panjutha, a key PTI figure, within 24 hours. IHC Chief Justice Amir Farooq observed that if Panjutha is not recovered by Saturday, the attorney general would be summoned for further action. The petitioner's counsel Faisal Chaudhry expressed cautious optimism, hoping for a safe return of Panjutha.

The court adjourned the hearing until Monday.
