FIA punishes 'corrupt' officials

Action follows allegations related to immigration staff at Islamabad airport

ISLAMABAD:

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) high-ups dismissed four officials, demoted 14 others to lower ranks and suspended two others from service over complaints of corruption and serious allegations related to the immigration staff.

Earlier, Islamabad FIA Zone Director Shehzad Nadeem Bukhari issued show-cause notices to the officers and officials, who were accused of indulging in corruption and other serious allegations at the New Islamabad International Airport.

Later, he reviewed case to case in the orderly room and took strict departmental action against those with unsatisfactory responses, dismissing four officers, demoting 14 from rank 1, and suspending two others.

ASI Asim Gulzar, Head Constable Habib Ahmed, Saeedullah and Lady Constable Nimra were dismissed from service. Fourteen officials including ASI Muhammad Faheem, Usman Aslam, Tahir Safeer, Shafqat Haider, Waseem Abbas, Head Constable Naeem Shahzad, Fayyazul Hasan, Zeeshan Babar, Irfan Khan, Asif Khan Niazi, and Muhammad Hafeez, were demoted in ranks.

Similarly, Sub-Inspector Talat Naseem, posted at Islamabad Airport FIA Immigration, was transferred and ordered to report to the administration branch. ASI Sheikh Waseem was suspended from service.

FIA Director Bukhari, who issued regular orders of punishments, made it clear that corruption, nepotism and negligence in the performance of official duties would never be tolerated. He advised the officers and officials to carry out their responsibilities as part of their service.
