LAHORE:

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Punjab's removing of Pakistan People's Party banners for an event organised to celebrate the passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment left the latter red in the face.

According to PPP leader Aslam Gill, the district administration was informed about the event in time. However, he asserted that no permission was sought nor required as there was no intention to create unrest through the gathering.

He added the party was given unwritten approval, but before the event, the district government removed their hoardings, even the ones in front of the Governor House.

He said the same was communicated to the Punjab governor through PPP Central Punjab General Secretary Hasan Murtaza and Central Punjab President Raja Pervez Ashraf.

Strangely, later in the day during a TV talk show, when the governor was asked about the removal of the boards, he denied any knowledge of this incident.

Central Punjab General Secretary Syed Hasan Murtaza, addressing the "Celebration of Parliamentary Supremacy" event at Charing Cross on Mall Road, stated that the time will soon come when Punjab's Chief Minister and Pakistan's Prime Minister will be a PPP leader.
