Disney secures 10 year deal for Grammy Awards Broadcasting, moving ceremony from CBS in 2027
In a groundbreaking move, Disney has secured the Grammy Awards from CBS in a 10-year streaming and broadcast deal set to start in 2027. Under this new agreement, the Grammy ceremony will simulcast across ABC, Hulu, and Disney+, marking the first time in over 50 years the awards show will air outside of CBS.
The Recording Academy and Disney will also collaborate on Grammy-themed specials and music programming across Disney platforms, further expanding their reach in the entertainment world.
The transition begins after CBS airs its last Grammy show in 2026, wrapping up a record-breaking 54-year partnership with the Recording Academy. Disney Entertainment co-chair Dana Walden celebrated the acquisition, saying, "Live events are essential to our culture and industry," adding that this collaboration positions Disney at the center of elite programming across genres.
The partnership also brings Disney exclusive access to simulcast the Grammys, an addition to ABC's existing lineup, which includes the Oscars and Super Bowl LXI in 2027.
Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. expressed excitement, emphasizing Disney’s dedication to creators and the global music community, calling the deal “an important milestone” for the Grammys. This development underscores a shift in awards show broadcasting, with the Grammy Awards becoming one of the first major events to join Disney's robust digital ecosystem, spanning Hulu and Disney+.
This historic move reflects the Academy’s commitment to growth and innovation, ensuring the Grammys' evolving legacy in the digital era.
