Jimmy Kimmel roasts Trump’s 'garbage truck' stunt: 'It really brings out the orange in his face'
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel took aim at Donald Trump’s latest stunt on Wednesday, following President Joe Biden’s controversial remarks calling Trump supporters “garbage.”
After Trump appeared in a garbage truck wearing an orange vest to capitalize on the comment, Kimmel responded in his monologue, suggesting, “Shouldn’t they have put him in the back of that? The garbage goes in the back of the truck.”
Kimmel also couldn’t resist commenting on Trump’s vest choice, saying, “It really brings out the orange in his face.”
During the segment, Kimmel pointed to Trump’s recent use of Biden’s “garbage” comment as a diversionary tactic, claiming the former president is trying to shift attention away from a different controversy.
This distraction, according to Kimmel, relates to the backlash Trump has faced from Latino communities after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s remarks at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally. At the event, Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico “a floating island of garbage.”
“This garbage thing is a serious problem for [Trump],” Kimmel said, noting the response from high-profile Latino figures, including Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez, and Ricky Martin, who have since voiced support for Kamala Harris.
Kimmel continued, “But instead of apologizing, which is not something he does, he sat down to talk about it with noted racial tolerance advocate Sean Hannity.”
Kimmel showed a clip of Trump defending his record with Puerto Rico, saying to Hannity, “I’ve done more for Puerto Rico than any president I think that’s ever been president.”
Kimmel mocked Trump’s response, quipping, “Yes, that definitely happens every time he goes outside,” referencing Trump’s controversial response during Hurricane Maria’s devastation in 2017.
He added, “No president in history has thrown more rolls of paper towels at the Puerto Rican people than Donald Trump.”
