Biker crushed under container in Sher Shah

A motorcyclist was seriously injured when a container, loaded on a truck, fell on him at Sher Shah bridge.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured when a container, loaded on a truck, fell on him at Sher Shah bridge. The victim, identified as 50-year-old Abdul Kareem, a resident of Baldia, was rushed to the Civil Hospital where he died during the treatment.

The brother of the deceased told The Express Tribune at the hospital, that his brother was on his way to work when a container loaded on a truck, coming from the opposite direction, fell on him, due to which he lost his life.

If the containers are properly placed on trucks and trailers while ensuring the safety measures, such tragic accidents may not happen, he said and questioned, who is responsible for this criminal negligence which claimed the life of his brother?

He further mentioned that authorities concerned should ensure safety measures before allowing the vehicles carrying containers onto the roads. "Today, this happened with my brother, tomorrow it will be someone else, a common man or a big shot."

SHO Site B, Rao Shabbir said that the driver of the truck from which the container had fallen, fled with the truck. However, the police have shifted the container to the police station and launched a hunt for the driver.
