Man stabs wife to death, injures four family members

Monetary dispute cited to be reason behind familicide

LAHORE

A man fatally attacked his wife and injured four family members in Lahore's Nawankot area in a violent outburst reportedly triggered by a financial dispute.

The suspect, identified as Shahid, was apprehended by the Dolphin Force as he attempted to flee the scene.

According to initial reports, the violence erupted from an ongoing financial disagreement between Shahid and his maternal uncle, Saleem.

A spokesperson for the Dolphin Force explained that during a heated argument, Shahid, in a fit of rage, attacked his uncle with a knife, leaving him with critical injuries.

Family members who attempted to intervene—including Shahid's wife Shumaila, his aunt Iffat Batool, and his young children—also fell victim to the attack.

Shumaila died from her injuries on the spot, while Shahid's son Hafeez, daughter Musfeer, uncle Saleem, and aunt Iffat sustained severe stab wounds.

Residents quickly alerted the Dolphin Force, who responded to the emergency call, detained Shahid, and recovered the weapon used in the attack.

The injured were immediately transported to a local hospital for urgent medical treatment.

The police credited the Dolphin Force's rapid response for preventing further harm, with a spokesperson stating, "Swift intervention prevented additional injuries and allowed timely medical assistance for the victims."

Shahid is now in police custody and will face charges of murder, attempted murder, and assault with a deadly weapon. An investigation is underway.
