Dengue death toll rises to 16
The dengue outbreak in Rawalpindi has worsened, with another patient, Zakia from Kallar Syedan, succumbing to the virus at Holy Family Hospital, raising the season's death toll to 16.
Moreover, despite the preventive campaign, 141 more people have been confirmed dengue positive during the same day. As many as 141 dengue patients were reported in Rawalpindi district during the last 24 hours.
The total number of dengue patients under treatment in allied hospitals has increased to 261 while the number of confirmed dengue patients has reached 4,427 so far this season.
During one day in Rawalpindi district, 60 dengue patients came from Potohar town, 19 from municipal corporation limits, 35 from Rawalpindi cantonment, eight from Chaklala cantonment, 13 from Potohar rural, two from Kallar Syedan and Taxila rural.
According to health department sources, 16 patients suffering from the dengue virus lost their lives this year.
This year, a total of 5110 FIRs were registered against citizens for violation of SOPs, while 1,799 buildings were sealed and 3,240 challan tickets were issued for dengue larvae. A fine of Rs212,915 million has also been imposed.
