Lil Durk booked flights to check for warrant, not to flee, claims Kodak Black’s attorney
Bradford Cohen, attorney for rapper Kodak Black, suggested that Lil Durk might have been attempting to confirm if there was an active warrant for his arrest. According to Cohen, Durk allegedly booked three international flights set to depart from the U.S. on the day he was detained, October 24, 2024. The FBI, however, alleged that Lil Durk was attempting to flee the country when he was apprehended at Miami Airport.
Cohen shared this theory on the Law & Crime Network YouTube channel on October 29, 2024, commenting on the unusual number of flights Durk had booked. He added: "I don't make much of whether or not he was going to escape and flee the country. I think more than likely and sometimes this happens. it's unusual that there were so many [flights] booked. What's not unusual is sometimes, where, an individual doesn't know whether or not there's a warrant out for their arrest."
He explained that in his experience, individuals often book international flights as a way to check if they are wanted, as the process might alert authorities if a warrant exists. The lawyer noted that, as arrest warrants aren’t always public, people sometimes use international bookings to see if they are “red-flagged.”
Lil Durk was taken into custody last week on "murder-for-hire" charges, with authorities alleging he conspired to kill rapper Quando Rondo. Rondo was reportedly the intended target in a 2022 Los Angeles shooting, which resulted in the death of his cousin, Lul Pab. Authorities believe this was an act of revenge for the death of King Von in 2020, who was fatally shot after a confrontation between his group and Rondo’s in Atlanta.
As reported by HipHop DX, Lil Durk allegedly booked three international flights departing the day he was arrested. FBI Special Agent Sarah Corcoran detailed in an affidavit that Lil Durk had arranged two one-way trips: one from Miami to Dubai and another from Fort Lauderdale to Switzerland, both set for October 24, 2024.
The Special Agent further stated that the Federal agency was notified by U.S. Customs and Border Protection regarding these bookings. One flight was a one-way journey from Miami to Dubai with a layover in Doha, Qatar, scheduled for the evening of October 24, 2024. The second was a one-way ticket from Fort Lauderdale to Switzerland, with a connection in New Jersey, also planned for the evening of October 24, 2024.
