Did Nicki Minaj endorse Trump for 2024 election?
On October 28, rumors circulated online suggesting that Nicki Minaj endorsed Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential race. The claim surfaced on X through a video where the rapper was heard speaking with a man, believed to be her husband, Kenneth Petty.
In the clip, Minaj called the man “Chucky” and expressed her gratitude for helping her obtain a green card and American citizenship.
“Because you’re an American, I can now fill out paperwork and vote in the United States of America of Donald Trump, and I would like to thank my fans and everybody that supported me,” Minaj said in the footage.
However, the viral video is actually old and unrelated to the 2024 election. According to Times Now, Trump supporter and podcaster Rob Smith confirmed the clip was from 2019.
"OK UPDATE: Apparently this is from 2019 from when Trump was President, the first time. Sorry for the Fake News! Let’s keep hope alive for next time!," Smith stated in a now-deleted tweet.
Nicki Minaj is not a U.S. citizen, as she has emphasized multiple times, including during a recent TikTok Live session last month.
On Monday, another video appeared online, in which Minaj was heard discussing her green card status, U.S. citizenship, and intent to vote for Trump as the Republican candidate.
While some conservatives interpreted it as an endorsement for the upcoming election, the video, which included animated filters, was identified as over five years old, from Trump’s previous presidency.
The clip seemed to be a Halloween joke made on Snapchat. Recently, Minaj clarified that she is not a U.S. citizen, meaning she is not eligible to vote.
