FIA reveals over 1,400 WhatsApp accounts hacked in Pakistan since July
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has revealed that more than 1,400 WhatsApp accounts have been hacked across the country, according to complaints received by the Cyber Crime Wing.
Since July 1, the FIA has recorded a total of 1,426 complaints related to hacked accounts, although this number does not include users whose complaints have not yet been registered.
The Cyber Crime Wing reported that of the registered complaints, 549 hacked accounts have already been restored, and details regarding these accounts have been submitted to the Senate.
According to the document, the FIA Cyber Crime Wing is currently processing 877 complaints, with 20 of these complaints having been escalated to formal inquiries. Additionally, responses regarding 40 pending complaints have yet to be received.
The FIA noted that 817 of the pending complaints are currently in the verification process, underscoring the ongoing challenges faced in addressing cybercrime in the country.
