Man wins $1 million lottery with $20 bill he found on the ground

'I found $20 in the parking lot outside the Speedway and used it to buy a ticket.'

In the United States, a man became a millionaire after buying a lottery ticket with $20 he found on the ground.

According to the North Carolina Education Lottery, Jerry Hicks, a resident of Banner Elk in the western part of the state, found the $20 while walking outside a Speedway.

He decided to use the money to purchase an Extreme Cash scratch-off ticket.

Confirming the story, he said, "I found $20 in the parking lot outside the Speedway and used it to buy a ticket."

He added that he couldn’t buy his favorite ticket because it was sold out, so he had to settle for this one.

Jerry was given the option to receive $50,000 annually for 20 years or take a lump sum payment, and he chose the one-time payment of $600,000.
